Showcasing Elite Talent and Elevating US Youth Basketball
We showcase the top talent in the US for their perspective age groups. We create the most competitive and exciting basketball showcase with the best of the best going head-to-head. Such competition helps keep the US on top of the world stage as the preeminent leader in producing the top basketball players in the world. With multiple other countries fast on their heels to take the crown, many experts agree the US youth basketball system is broken. Why because how many of our top-ranked young players have gotten there? Excellent but not always truthful or accurate marketing has created Social Media Stars. Often from showcases that are highly publicized featuring little to no passing or defense. Some are great players and have earned their rankings and publicity. Others don’t always have the games to back it up. NLS creates the opportunity for all participants to prove they truly deserve top rankings. We search for and invite the best players we can find and encourage the ones we miss to apply because we know we can’t find them all. Then all those top players who have the courage to compete against the best of their peers are legitimately ranked after proving they are the best of the best. We have mentioned rankings but we want to be clear finding and being part of developing the best basketball players is our mission.
Top rankings have also come about from reclassing and yes double reclassing. Are you really the best if you are two years or even a year older than your competitor? Why are other countries getting more and more players drafted in the NBA? In Europe, top players as young as 13 years old are playing against grown men on lower-level professional clubs. In other words, they are playing up which is exactly how you get better. In our country, most of our so-called top players are playing down one or two grades solely or soullessly to be ranked. Many of these players are still passed by in the future but it has created a system where kids graduate school at age 19 or 20 and are in college until they are 25 or even older. Making it harder for kids graduating on time to be able to compete against grown men. It is what it is but here at NLS we encourage and require our players to face the best competition who are their own age or have the courage to play up when they are good enough to dominate their own age group. Our philosophy and the truth is you get better by facing the best possible competition. We are the only showcase that does all we can to make this happen. Creating true challenges by having a top-ranked 2030 kid for instance who is wise a 14u. Can he prove he can do the same against 14u 2029? Only NLS creates such challenges and a true level playing field or court in this case.
By doing so we ensure we are helping to develop players to the best of their ability and reaching their highest potential. We are also age-appropriate because our goal is that within a few years, our NLS elite players will also fill many roster spots for USA 16u,17u, and 18u teams who follow the same age criteria we do.
Although other showcases can be very entertaining. Basketball purists cringe when they see a brand of basketball where there is no passing and little defense is played. Our showcases encourage the aforementioned and play fundamentally sound basketball. Games are played to win and participants are encouraged to play the right way. The top five players in each game are ranked based on what they did to help their team win. Not on how many points they scored. Poor shot selection, bad decision-making, and a lack of defense will be noted. When you have been selected to our all-tournament teams or picked as the MVP everyone will know you are truly deserving of a top ranking.
Our showcases work like this. We have three hotbed regions where many top players reside. The first is the Florida, Georgia Region. Where top players from these two states compete against the rest of the country. Our next event is in Texas where it is Texas vs. the country and then California vs the country in Vegas. We then have an Elite Event where top players from previous events are invited. Accept the challenge and apply for NLS now.
Our Level-Up Camps
Our basketball camps for elite players bring together players in every age group to learn from the pros, improve their skills, and get noticed by top-tier scouts. Currently, you can join our program for boy groups 12U, 13U, 14U, and 15U.
Why NLS
Talent and Development - our goal is to get the best of the best as iron sharpens iron. We call them the great 48 per age group. Will include top players from the state or region event is held along with top players from throughout the country.
Games - Each player and team plays 4 games. Pool play each day to attempt to avoid playing same team twice. Games are played the right way and to win. Not for individuals to be selfish and promote themselves only. Should be no more than 8 players per team allowing for more playing time. 40 minute running clock minimum. If game is under 10 points at that point 2 minutes is put on the clock stops on dead balls. Free throws shot, shooting 2 shoots, everything else 1 in 1. If not under 10 and time permits 5 more minutes running clock.
Exposure - To be selected to an NLS is event is an honor. At the very least it means you are considered a top player in your state, in some cases your region and for some the country. Each NLS Select player will have his own bio on our site. The possibility of uploading highlight videos etc. will be available. Some of the games will be filmed and commentated on possibly by local basketball legends. They will be posted on our website and YouTube. Standout players will also be interviewed after games.
Age Appropriate - Creates a level playing field, creates matchups we don’t get to see, determines who truly wants the smoke, Mirrors USA Basketball, most importantly helps in the development of our greatest young players.
Future of NLS - As a n NLS participant you become a part of our NLS family. We do all we can to help your development along the way. We fully expect our programs to flow into EYBL or other shoe company circuits and our elite players to be eventually be considered for USA Basketball, NIL deals and college scholarships. Also possibly a post grad program for NLS participants who are a year or two way from a scholarship.
